Garland Theater!

For those of you who don't know that the Garland Theater exists, I am hoping that means that you are not from the Spokane area.

You can check out their About section on their website

Or here is a little run down:
  • Opened in 1945 - Even LA didn't have anything like it!
  • Had a Snack bar (yumyum!)
  • Originally sat near 1,000 people - today it's 630 as the seats are bigger
  • Closed for a little bit in the 1960's
  • Survived a brief period as an X-rated movie house (OH MY!)
  • Was closed from 1986-1988 until Don Clifton reopened it as the first discount theater in Spokane
  • Current owner is Katherine Fritchie - "has been working to restore the theater to its original splendor and modernize the sound and projection systems while retaining the family-friendly atmosphere and price"
The theater is one of my favorites to attend. The screen is big, the sound system is super clear, and there is a ton of seats that are really good seats. (Don't have to worry too much about being too close!)

We decided to see the movie The Interview

It is Awesome!! of course I absolutely love Seth Rogen so I guess I am a little bias. But ladies if you want to take your man on a date I would totally recommend this movie :) And it looks like it still showing at the Garland until at least the 22nd of this month!!
And the super cool thing? Since we went on Wednesday it only cost us $2.50 per person!!
Usually it is $5 the rest of the week but in the winter they have Wednesday's half off!! yay!! So we went ahead and popped into Bon Bon.

Bon Bon is the little bar that is part of the theater. You are actually allowed to purchase a beer or wine from the bar and take it into the theater while watching the movie! For those who are 21 isn't that awesome!!

And on Tuesdays:

Every Tuesday night at 7 they show an older movie!  Like the 20th they are going to be showing The Lost Boys!
Tickets are only $2.50! and if you go to Bon Bon and spend up $10 you can get into the movie for free! and you don't even have to get just drinks! They also have an fun menu of tasty treats
I would definitely go but I have class every Tuesday night...

But they have other event's all the time! Like the Rocky Horror picture show showing on February 7th at midnight.

They really have a tradition of showing this movie a few times a year. I have only seen it once so I am for sure going to try and go! This movies is a little out there, but I think it will be fun to watch with a bunch of people, some who even dress up!

So next time you are bored at home and just want to get out, or you want to see a movie in a more traditional setting... Check out the Garland Theater! You can always go to their website for movie times, or add them on Facebook for regular updates!

I know I always enjoy going and I'm sure you will too!!

Thanks for reading!

p.s. I am in no way affiliated with the Garland Theater. I just love watching movies and grabbing a drink there!

Aloha Island Grill!

So yesterday my man and myself made a voyage to find some substance for a noon meal. As we made our way through the streets of Spokane we soon decided on Aloha Island Grill! We usually trek to the Francis location but thought we should give the Monroe location a try. And you know what?

They taste EXACTLY the same!

I say this because there are many times where you go to a different location and the flavor or quality is just not up to par.

After doing some research I found that the Monroe locations is the original restaurant. It is a small location with standing room only, but the guys who where working there are super friendly, and work super fast! We had a pretty decent sized order since we where getting food for some friends but it took less then 10 minutes for our food to be prepared.

Whenever I go to Aloha I always get an order of spam masubi.
This is a rectangle of rice, packed all neatly together, with a piece of spam on top, all wrapped in seaweed.
Before you gross out I would highly recommend giving it a try! You can order just one for $1 + tax.

I love mine with a little bit of their teriyaki sauce.

We also ordered the big plate of the Chicken Teriyaki. This comes with two scoops of rice, a scoop of your choice of macaroni or pea salad and a big scoop of their signature Chicken Teriyaki. (it's our favorite!!)
As I am not a fan of peas, we chose the Macaroni. It has an excellent flavor and I think there are little squares of cheese in it! (cheese makes everything better!) We love it so much that we have one of the scoops of rice replaced with another scoop of the Macaroni.

Our friends asked us to grab them some of the Chicken Teriyaki bowls, which comes to around $5 (including tax!) It's an outstanding deal!! The lid has a hard time closing!! It is Perfect if you just need lunch at a decent price, and considering how good the chicken tastes it's totally worth it!

You can of course add a soda. And they have those super cool Coca-Cola 100-flavor interactive freestyle soda fountain's that allows you to mix all kinds of flavors together. My man's favorite is the Dr.Pepper with vanilla and cherry. It's the bomb! (though I didn't get to have any cause I'm working really hard to cut soda out of my diet.)

Aloha not only serves lunch and dinner, but breakfast as well at the Francis location! I haven't had a chance to try it yet but will as soon as I can :) They have a bunch of other items on their menu that you should definitely try out! Here is a link to their Menu! so you can check it out before you head over there.

They also can do party's as well!! So if you have any weddings or birthdays, or Superbowl parties! make sure you contact them!! Especially if you want a summer feel during the cold months of winter!

New Year New Me! Welcome 2015!

Ended last year with friends and family and now I’m ready for the New Year!

The last year has been somewhat of a roller coaster and while it was an interesting experience that I learned a lot from I am totally ready for the New Year and new, fun, experiences.

Of course like everyone out there I have chosen to make some New Year Resolutions.

I resolve to:
  1. Work my hardest in school to achieve the best grades possible.
  2. Apply for university, and start in the fall.
  3. Make healthier eating choices and cut out soda.
  4. Start exercising regularly and be more active in my day to day life.
  5. Be more active in my community
As I love to be crafty I of course have to make something to remind me of these Resolutions:

I have a weekly on the go life planner from erincondren.com that I absolutely love! If you are in to organize your life a little bit these are a great way to start! Fun cute planners with tons of accessories to help you stay organized.
I have these coil clips that you can attach to anything to be able to keep in the planner. I chose to use one on my 2015 Resolutions so that I may move it throughout the planner as the year goes on. One of the hardest things about Resolutions is remembering them later in the year, so this way I have an easier time keeping track of them.

I also made a list of more specific resolutions. While the main five that I chose are very important, I feel that having a few more specific resolutions is important. Mine are as follows:

  • Start every week with a TED Talk
  • Read a book a month
  • Print out my photo's
  • Run/Walk Bloomsday
  • Drink more water
  • Increase veggie intake
  • Finish a Hasfit 30-day challenge
  • Organize my life weekly (upkeep)
  • Start a savings account
  • Work harder at remembering people's names
  • Minimize T.V. time
  • Make my own skirt
  • Actually follow through on a New Years Resolution!
I chose to make them into a hanging list to put next to my mirror that I use every morning so that they are in a spot that I will see regularly an be able to keep track of!

I also have gone through my planner and put weekly and monthly reminders to help me with achieving all my goals.

The excitement I have for 2015 is too dang high, and that is okay! I am ready to take on the year with everything I have! And can't wait for you all to join me in making 2015 your best year yet!!

Thank you for reading!
Jazzy

PS. do you guys have any fun resolutions for the year?
