Or here is a little run down:
- Opened in 1945 - Even LA didn't have anything like it!
- Had a Snack bar (yumyum!)
- Originally sat near 1,000 people - today it's 630 as the seats are bigger
- Closed for a little bit in the 1960's
- Survived a brief period as an X-rated movie house (OH MY!)
- Was closed from 1986-1988 until Don Clifton reopened it as the first discount theater in Spokane
- Current owner is Katherine Fritchie - "has been working to restore the theater to its original splendor and modernize the sound and projection systems while retaining the family-friendly atmosphere and price"
The theater is one of my favorites to attend. The screen is big, the sound system is super clear, and there is a ton of seats that are really good seats. (Don't have to worry too much about being too close!)
We decided to see the movie The Interview
It is Awesome!! of course I absolutely love Seth Rogen so I guess I am a little bias. But ladies if you want to take your man on a date I would totally recommend this movie :) And it looks like it still showing at the Garland until at least the 22nd of this month!!
And the super cool thing? Since we went on Wednesday it only cost us $2.50 per person!!
Usually it is $5 the rest of the week but in the winter they have Wednesday's half off!! yay!! So we went ahead and popped into Bon Bon.
Bon Bon is the little bar that is part of the theater. You are actually allowed to purchase a beer or wine from the bar and take it into the theater while watching the movie! For those who are 21 isn't that awesome!!
And on Tuesdays:
Every Tuesday night at 7 they show an older movie! Like the 20th they are going to be showing The Lost Boys!
Tickets are only $2.50! and if you go to Bon Bon and spend up $10 you can get into the movie for free! and you don't even have to get just drinks! They also have an fun menu of tasty treats!
I would definitely go but I have class every Tuesday night...
But they have other event's all the time! Like the Rocky Horror picture show showing on February 7th at midnight.
They really have a tradition of showing this movie a few times a year. I have only seen it once so I am for sure going to try and go! This movies is a little out there, but I think it will be fun to watch with a bunch of people, some who even dress up!
So next time you are bored at home and just want to get out, or you want to see a movie in a more traditional setting... Check out the Garland Theater! You can always go to their website for movie times, or add them on Facebook for regular updates!
I know I always enjoy going and I'm sure you will too!!
Thanks for reading!

p.s. I am in no way affiliated with the Garland Theater. I just love watching movies and grabbing a drink there!
